About Us
Penman Springs Vineyard
Penman Springs Vineyard is a family-owned, artisan winery situated in the rolling hills east of Paso Robles. The proprietors, Carl and Beth McCasland, along with winemaker Larry Roberts, craft a lineup of varietal offerings of Muscat Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Petite Sirah, along with Petit Verdot for use in their "Meritage" blend.
The McCaslands refer to their 40-plus acres as a "garden" and the magic of Penman Springs starts in the vineyard. The grapes enjoy optimum growing conditions of warm days, cool nights, and perfect soils. Add to that a variety of trellis systems — the Smart-Dyson, the ballerina, the open lyre, and the Geneva Double Curtain — and you've got the beginnings of deeply colored, full-bodied wines with rich, balanced flavors.

Penman Springs Vineyard has won medals for each wine they have entered into the prestigious San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition the last two years running, as well as numerous other awards. Penman Springs only produces about 2,000 cases a year, most of which is sold at the winery and through our Pen Pal Wine Club.
